09/26: Ground Embracing Ceremony
Posted by: James Polk
Please join us for the Lily Valley Ground Embracing Ceremony (Rescheduled from August 28th because of rain)
When: Saturday, September 29th at 9 am.
Where: On the site. Lily Valley is located just north of Hattiesburg on Hwy 49 across from the Auto Auction. Look for the signs.
Architect James Polk gives a project update and green home plans and site maps will be available for public viewing.
Jamie Franks - Chairman of the Mississippi House Conservation and Water Resources Committee - speaks on the economic advantages of building green, walkable, affordable communities.
Franks will be introduced by former US Congressman and green housing developer Ronnie Shows.
Reverend Ed Lundin leads a “blessing of the grounds,” and we will be planting lilies to inaugurate the new Lily Valley community garden.
And a walking tour will be given.
Music, of course: Special performance by an ensemble from the Meistersingers.
And check out this recent article about our project in relation to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Broadacre City project conceived by Mr. Wright in the 1930’s. A correction though: the Lily Valley model was featured in the Urban Land Institute’s national convention in Denver, and the model currently resides and is on view at Mr. Wright’s Taliesin West in Scottsdale Arizona.
